
HMS Sheffield Memorial, Sea Lion Island, Falkland Islands, South Atlantic. A memorial to the twenty men who died on 4th May 1982 when HMS Sheffield was hit by an Argentine exocet missile. HMS Sheffield sunk whilst on tow to South Georgia. The vessel was hit 40 miles south east of Sea Lion Island. Wreaths of remembrance are placed every year by the Chief-of-Staff. |
