Piñatas hang in a stall in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. The stars are called piñatas and are a Mexican Christmas tradition. They're made from a clay pot filled with candies. At Christmas, blindfolded children will hit them with long sticks to break them and release the goodies. The father christmas figure is also a piñata. Zihuatanejo is a small town on Mexico?s southwest Pacific Coast in the state of Guerrero. The modern resort of Ixtapa is five kilometres away. It was a sleepy fishing village until the early 1970?s, which is when the construction of Ixtapa begun. Zijuatanejo is now a popular destination. The beautiful bay is one of it?s main attractions. |
