Geothermal station, Bjarnarflag, North East Iceland. Steam rises from a borehole drilled into one of the many geothermal supplies under the earth to power hot water to local communities in North East Iceland. The Bjarnarflag plant, owned by Landsvirkjun, also produces resources as a byproduct from the geothermal resources it promduces including diamite which is used in toothpaste and fertiliser. |
